Mount Amuko is one of the peaks of the ridge of the same name and is located in the place where the Agva and Ushkho rivers (right tributaries of the Sochi river) and the Teply and Kholodny streams (left tributaries of the Bzych river) originate. It is located 19 km to the North from the village of Dagomys.
The Amuko range chain of peaks, stretching from West to East, is almost horizontal. Shallow saddles formed between its three peaks. The westernmost peak is a nodal one, and it branches into three ridges: the Southern, the North – Western, and the Eastern ones. A steep drop in the Southern ridge has formed a deep saddle, followed by a steep ascent to the top of the Small Amukomount.
The Northern ridge owes its unusual appearance to the fact that it was formed by steeply falling limestone slabs, which in some places look like almost vertical even layers. On the Eastern ridge of Amuko there once stood a pyramid, which has not survived to this day. This structure was a triangulation point and the most dangerous part of the route to mount Amuko.
The Eastern peak, which has no name, is 1920 m high and is the highest point of mount Amuko. The summit offers wonderful views of the coast, the Fisht-Oshten massif, and the Main Caucasian Ridge.
One can climb to the top along a compacted trail along the Agva river or along the Azhek ridge through the Skalnaya mountain.
